Our Trainings

Youth Empowerment offers specialized trainings through a lived-experience lens, delivered by subject matter experts to provide individuals and organizations with the knowledge and skills to interact with individuals with respect, inclusion, and equity. The value of our trainings is to gain an understanding of the power of words and how words impact people in the workplace and/or our communities. The goal is to encourage those who have successfully completed our trainings to implement the tools and knowledge provided to improve the states of health and wellness for themselves and the communities they serve. Trainings are offered to all who engage with troubled youth and adults.

Interactive Journaling: Forward Thinking

The Forward Thinking Interactive Journaling® Series, developed in collaboration with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Juvenile Justice, is a cognitive-behavioral approach tailored specifically for youth involved in the criminal justice system. This evidence-based series utilizes strategies that help participants reflect on and change their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors towards responsible living.

Central to this method are the Interactive Journals, which guide participants through a series of thought-provoking questions aimed at personal reflection. These questions encourage individuals to explore their motivations for change and develop actionable plans with clear, behavior-related goals. By applying the principles of expressive writing, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and the transtheoretical model of behavior change, the journals are designed to meet the unique needs of each participant, fostering meaningful and sustainable personal growth.

International Institute from Restorative Practices (IIRP)

Restorative practices provide a transformative approach for individuals to connect more deeply and build stronger, healthier relationships in various settings. This training introduces participants to the restorative practices continuum, which guides the selection of appropriate restorative processes to achieve specific relational goals or respond to particular situations.

Participants will gain insights into key concepts of restorative practices, learning how to apply these methods to enhance emotional management, effective communication, and conflict resolution skills. The training empowers individuals to foster a safe and supportive environment in their personal and professional relationships, promoting growth, understanding, and a positive connection. By employing these tools, participants can strengthen their interpersonal bonds and create more meaningful interactions within their communities.

Parents on a Mission

Our Parents on a Mission program offers facilitator training designed to strengthen family relationships, focusing on equipping participants with the skills needed to support parents and children. This training provides facilitators with the knowledge and tools to help parents build confidence, address feelings of guilt, and manage feelings of failure. Through the program, facilitators will learn to guide parents in their personal growth and in creating safer, more nurturing environments for their families.

The training centers on enhancing familial bonds—encouraging the hearts of parents to turn towards their children and the hearts of children towards their parents, a proven strategy to deter negative lifestyle choices among youth. Participants will be trained on our six foundational principles, empowering them to lead sessions that help parents become effective and compassionate leaders within their households. Join us to become a certified facilitator in the Parents on a Mission program and play a pivotal role in transforming family dynamics.
